Chesapeake Pale Ale features a bright, floral aroma and flavor thanks to Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo and Centennial hops, used with a heavy hand in both the brewing and dry-hop process. For 16 years, Chesapeake Pale Ale has been celebrating the integral role its namesake estuary plays in our community. Today, portions of sales proceeds support the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.
We wanted to share great beer with great people while giving back to our community.
Alewerks’ newest partnership with Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is another way of doing both.
It starts with Chesapeake Pale Ale, an American style year-round favorite, distinguished by its bright, citrus aroma and Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo and Centennial hops. Each of our beers has a story behind its name — for 16 years, Chesapeake Pale Ale has been paying homage to the integral role the Chesapeake Bay plays in our community.
Most of us know the Chesapeake Bay as a place to fish or kayak, a haven to swim or boat, a picturesque view from a dock or car window. The Bay is also among the largest estuaries in the United States that impacts the health and safety of thousands of animals and plants.
Its ecosystem impacts the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat. Even if you don’t live near the Bay, it plays a significant role in the health of your local waterways and the parks and forests you visit.
Chesapeake Bay preservation efforts are essential to our future on planet Earth.
That’s why Alewerks has committed 10% of gross profits from the sale of sixpacks of its Chesapeake Pale Ale toward the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, which relies on environmental stewards to carry out its mission. The Alliance brings together communities, companies and conservationists — people who live, work and play in the Chesapeake Bay watershed — to improve its land and waters.
That’s us at Alewerks. As much as we strive to be green, we recognize that we can do better. It takes a lot more water to make a can of beer than the 12 ounces in the can. We’re working to mitigate our effect on water consumption.
“Alewerks has supported a number of charitable causes over the years, but this one speaks to the realization that we are part of the problem,” said Operations Director Michael Claar. “The Alliance works to improve the whole ecosystem, and we are passionate about contributing to those efforts.”
We take our role as a certified Virginia Green business seriously. The team at Alewerks is committed to sustainability and an environmentally conscious mindset when we make business decisions. Consider:
“Our partnership with Alewerks ensures that we can take action to protect and restore our rivers and streams, providing clean water for great beer,” said Alliance Director Nissa Dean. “Alewerks and the Alliance have built this partnership because we both care about the environment and want a healthy Chesapeake Bay. Of course, we also enjoy a great Chesapeake Pale Ale!”
Alewerks and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay teaming together will make a difference for this generation and the next. Our hope is to raise $10,000 or more to support the work of the Alliance in 2022. That’s another reason you are vital to this partnership. When you buy a six pack of Chesapeake Pale Ale, feel good about supporting Chesapeake Bay preservation.
Here’s to raising a can for a greener tomorrow. Cheers!
